Interest only mortgages are common for buy to let mortgages and are the most widely available. Unlike with residential mortgages, borrowers don’t need to meet affordability criteria and the amount available to borrow is primarily determined based on the property value and the rental income. Other factors such as the type of mortgage product and tax status of the applicant can also make a difference. Please see our dedicated page on buy to let mortgages for more information.
